Nursery Week Placement...

On Monday I have my day visit at a nursery. I have day on Monday and then the week beginning Nov. 6th I’m in full time for 6 weeks.

This nursery is completely different to any other placements I've done. Firstly it’s a nursery and secondly it's ALL ok slight exaggeration mainly all white. It’s also quite a good nursery which makes a change from working in deprived asain schools!

The nursery is linked to the primary school so I’m hoping to meet some of the school teachers and hopefully get them on board for next years IAD. They have their own UP TO DATE webpage, I would link the site but I don't wanna break any ethnic codes especially those concerning kids! After looking at the website I realised they have high expectations that mixed with the fact I might just be the only asain there I’m compelled to make a good impression. SO much so that I spent 3 hours in the library on Friday going over what tasks I need to carry out whilst there, making notes, highlighting and actually reading up on the foundation curriculum and preparing my file. I already have my dividers labelled and inserted in to a file which in turn is clearly labelled as NWK placement. I normally do this half way through the year or a week before its all due in for inspection by an arrogant old man whose advice on good teaching practice is not to smile at kids!

Anyway I introduced myself to the deputy head last week and she seemed really friendly abit scatter brained (she couldn't remember what day it was) but I’m glad because now I have something in common with her!

I'm kinda nervous about the placement especially after looking at everything I need to do! But at the same time I’m looking forward too it. Teaching is the only thing that brings butterflies to my stomach but also the best feeling.

I always tend to pray more when I’m on placement mostly asking for help and guidance on my teaching it makes me feel closer to Allah (swt) so really looking forward to having that feeling again.
